The tone of this is so different from the original scene. This sounds very much like enlisting lord Toranaga in a vendetta against the Portuguese. In the original series, Blackthorne's goal was the Black Ship and the profit from commerce. The story about European wars was a background story. The tone of this whole scene was not "let's join forces". He was mainly caught in the middle of Japanese feudal wars, and that was what it was mainly about.

Love this franchise, everything you want in a Blockbuster, the CGI is amazing and taking the story far into the future is a home run! Although I'll miss Maurice and BadMonkey not to mention Caesar and his son that we didn't get to see as an adult, I'm so ready for the introduction of new characters.

The suspension of disbelief is a funny thing. I'm accepting a world were primates became much more intelligent and capable of speech while humans downgraded in intelligence and losing their ability for language . . . but Mae speaking normally completely throws me off. No stilted speech, or rough accented words. She speaks normally by just listening to the apes around her. And somehow that is the part that I find most unrealistic lol.
